location on the estuary of the
river Tay.

Originally a small fishing village, this part of its history can be seen in the quaint fisher cottages on the banks of the river. Its ancient castle (right) guards the mouth of the Tay.
Broughty Ferry has a village atmosphere with many independent specialist
shops but there is more to "the Ferry" as its main shopping street also
hosts the larger chain outlets.
