location on the estuary of the
river Tay.
Originally a small fishing village, this part of its history can be seen in the quaint fisher cottages on the banks of the river. Its ancient castle (right) guards the mouth of the Tay. Broughty Ferry has a village atmosphere with many independent specialist
shops but there is more to "the Ferry" as its main shopping street also
hosts the larger chain outlets. Golfers basing themselves in Broughty Ferry will find themselves central to many of the world's most famous golf courses. Click here to see golf courses within a 15 mile radius
of Broughty Ferry Along the river there is a rich variety of interests. From a leisurely walk in the fantastic Barnhill Rock Gardens (left) to more active pursuits of open water swimming and sailing. For those who favour indoor activities Broughty Ferry is famous for its pubs and restaurants. From the traditional old, low-ceiling pub to the most modern of restaurants the Ferry has them all.
